Sharp's Falls Hydroelectric Plant

Sharp's Falls Hydroelectric Plant

I had seen this small hydroelectric plant on the North Fork of the New River many years back, in the film days. I couldn't remember exactly where it was, but I knew what it was when we passed it on the highway.

The powerhouse and dam were built in 1931. It has two Francis turbines producing a total of 200 kW of power. The power is supplied to the local electric cooperative.
