Sandwiched Sunrise
Sunrise in autumn in North Carolina is actually a reasonable hour at around 7:00 a.m. (still on Daylight Savings Time). I was hoping for fog in the forest and was initially disappointed when I left the hotel that the clouds were low but not low enough. Nevertheless, when we reached the Blue Ridge Parkway, I could see we were in for a different kind of sunrise. The low clouds sandwiched the sun above the mountains. A few scattered cloud banks added atmosphere in the foreground.
