St. Mary Catholic Church in High Hill is considered the "Queen of the Painted Churches" near Schulenberg. Unlike the other painted churches in Fayette County, which were built by Czech immigrants, this church was built in 1906 by German immigrants and their descendants.Date: 24 July 2019Location: High Hill, Texas, United StatesOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed in high dynamic range from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic 8

St. Mary's Church is the most ornate of the four painted churches of Fayette County. I used a fisheye lens to highlight the grandeur of the altar.Date: 24 July 2019Location: High Hill, Texas, United StatesOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed in high dynamic range from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic 8

St. Mary's Church of the Assumption sits in the village of Praha (Czech for Prague). I used a tilt-shift lens to keep the columns vertical. The vaulted celings are unique among the painted churches.Date: 24 July 2019Location: Praha, Texas, United StatesOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom C;lassic 8

Saint Mary's Church of the Assumption is located in the village of Praha. It is one of the four painted churches of Fayette County. I loved all of the angles and curves in the sanctuary and decided to use a fisheye lens to create a kaleidoscopic look. I made the beautiful chandelier near the front of the sancturary the focal point for the photo. There are four so-called painted churches in the vicinity of Schulenberg, Texas. This particular church, Saints Cyril and Methodiious Catholic Church, is in the more or less ghost town of Dubina. The present church dates to 1911, though the interior is a recreation of the original interior that was for some mysterious reason painted over. I particularly love the stars on the ceiling in this church.I used a tilt-shift lens to keep the columns vertical while showing as much of the ceiling as possible.Date: 24 July 2019Location: Dubina, Texas, United StatesOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic 8

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church is the most modest of the four painted churches of Fayette County. It is still a pretty church, nonetheless.
