The ferry landing opposite Québec in Lévis is a popular evening destination for viewing the old city in the evening. I had hoped to get more orange in the sky from the sunset, but the ferry was delayed a half hour in taking us over.On the left, of course, is the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac, perhaps the most photographed hotel in the world. Just right of center is Édifice Price, the tallest building in Québec. The domed building to the right is the old post office.Date: 29 July 2017Location: Québec, Québec, CanadaOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed in high dynamic range from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6
The Escalier Casse-Cou, known as the Breakneck Steps in English, descend from Côte de la Montagne to Rue du Petit Champlain in Vieux Québec. The stairs at this location date to 1635. A number of restaurants and shops are located along the stairs. We got up early on a rainy Sunday to photograph them before the tourists hordes descended on the area.Date: 7 October 2018Location: Québec, Québec, CanadaOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC 7.5
The mood of this view of Nyhavn from the Holbergsgade-Toldbodgode bridge is extremely busy, with colorful buildings, strolling people, and criss-crossing masts and sall lines, just as the sidewalks were that sunny day.Date: 24 September 2007Location: København (Copenhagen), Hovedstaden, Danmark (Denmark)Original resolution: 6 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC 2015
We were waiting on the Independence Day fireworks to start at Hermann Park, when I noticed the planes flying into Hobby airport were making their approach over the park. I decided to see what kind of light trail they would make. In this case, a Southwest 737 carved out a beautiful arc of light that allowed me to capture the fountain in the foreground.Date: 4 July 2015Location: Houston, Texas, United StatesOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6
Here's another view of Rue du Petit Champlain. I think the pattern of the paving stones makes a nice leading line to the vanishing point of the street.

I shot this image of the Montréal waterfront while waiting for the fireworks to begin. The Saint Lawrence River passes under the Jacques Cartier bridge. The ferris wheel of the La Ronde amusement park, site of the fireworks display, is visible under the right side of the bridge. On the left, an image of a woman is clearly visible on the Clock Tower. The projection is part of a citywide art installation known as Cité Mémoire. The woman represents Suzanne, of the 1966 Leonard Cohen song, which is perhaps his most famous.Date: 26 July 2017Location: Montréal, Québec, CanadaOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6
We had a beautful corner room on the sixth floor of the Fairmont le Château Frontenac that offered nice views of the surrounding old city. In this photo, I captured Édifice Gérard-D.-Levesque, which houses the Ministere des Finances du Québec (Ministry of Finance of Québec), Cathédrale de la Sainte-Trinité (Holy Trinity Cathedral), which was the first Anglican church built outside the British Isles, and Édifice Price (the Price Building), which is the official quarters of the Prémier of Québec. Dusk was just starting to fall on an overcast day, so the lighting is very even.Date: 6 October 2018Location: Québec, Québec, CanadaOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC 7
Rue du Cul de Sac is a famous pedestrian street in the lower town of Vieux Québec, noted for its color, architectural detail, and view of the Fairmont le Château Frontenac. We got up early to take this photo, before the tourist crowds started streaming in. I used a tilt-shift lens to keep the architectural lines vertical.Date: 7 October 2018Location: Québec, Québec, CanadaOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC 7

I've seen Gus and Lyndall Wortham Park more than a few times since it sits at the corner of Main Street and Holcombe Boulevard, not too far from home. It's part of the Texas A&M Health Science Center campus in the Texas Medical Center. For whatever reason, I had not thought to photograph it.I was playing around with PhotoPills and realized that the sun would set more or less along the axis of the fountain pool this day. When I arrived, I could see that the fountains weren't running, but the pool was still full. Consequently, it created a reflecting pool. I lined up the camera with the row of columns that sit in the northeastern end of the fountain. When the fountain is operating, water cascades over the columns. The buildings in the background are primarily those of Texas Children's Hospital.Date: 3 January 2021Location: Houston, Texas, United StatesOriginal resolution: 45 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic 10
This small harbor sits in Christianshavn, a group of man-made islands in the Inner Harbor of Copenhagen. The Danish Asia Company was once located here. The Church of Our Savior (Vor Frelsers Kirke), famous for its helical spire, is in the background.Date: 24 September 2007Location: Copenhagen, DenmarkOriginal resolution: 6 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC 7
Buffalo Bayou wanders across the northwest face of downtown Houston, and a greenbelt surrounds it. The prominent, postmodern building in the center is the Bank of America Center. The building to the left is the Wortham Theater.Date: 9 February 2008Location: Houston, Texas, United StatesOriginal resolution: 6 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC 7
The Japanese Garden in Hermann Park was designed by landscape architect Ken Nakajima. Among other points of interest, it has a teahouse, shown in the photo. I decided the photo worked better in black-and-white because of all the texture.Date: 23 December 2019Location: Houston, Texas, United StatesOriginal resolution: 45 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic 9
I was photographing the Blue Moon from the roof of a parking garage in Rice Village when I decided to try to photograph downtown. I used a 500 mm lens with 1.4x teleconverter on a crop sensor, so the 35 mm equivalent is 1050 mm.The building to the left with the truncated pyramid on top is 1600 Smith Street, which is partially leased to Chevron and was once the headquarters of Continental Airlines. The tallest building behind it is Wells Fargo Plaza. The rounded building to the right is the Chevron building at 1500 Louisiana Street, which was formerly the Enron Building. In front of it sits the KBR building. The Monet Pool at the Denver Botanic Garden pays homage to Monet's water gardens at Giverny.
