While hiking at Parc National du Mont-Orford, I could see that the reflection of the shoreline of Lake Stukely and the island in it created an inkblot pattern, so I set up this photo to have a centered horizon.Date: 8 October 2018Location: Orford, Québec, CanadaOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC 7

We were out driving in search of Manor Kill Falls in the Catskills and basically went right on past them out Potter Mountain Road. With the sun fading fast, we drove back to a wide spot in the valley surrounding Manor Kill. After shooting a number of photos perpendicular to the sun, I turned to my left and was surprised to see that the moon had risen. The moon looks full in the photo, but in fact it was still waxing and would be a supermoon two days later.Date: 14 October 2016Location: Conesville, New York, United StatesOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC 2015
This farm in the Catskills was positioned perfectly between in the valley along the west branch of the Delware River and a small peak behind it. The corn stalks and the trees provide two distinct textures to the image.Date: 14 October 2016Location: Kortright, New York, United StatesOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6
We were out driving in search of Manor Kill Falls in the Catskills and basically went right on past them out Potter Mountain Road. With the sun fading fast, we drove back to a wide spot in the valley surrounding Manor Kill. After shooting a number of photos with the sun at my back and to the side, I turned toward the sun just before it set behind the hills to the west. Since I was using a zoom lens, the flare was problematic for many of the photos, but this shot worked really well.Date: 14 October 2016Location: Conesville, New York, United StatesOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC 2015
This dairy farm is located in a hamlet called Bovina, which is clearly appropriate. The foliage in this part of the Catskills was a little past peak when we were there, but it still provided an excellent backdrop to the red barns.Date: 14 October 2016Location: Bovina, New York, United StatesOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC 2015
We were parking for our hotel when we came across this pond and marsh located just behind the hotel property. The wetland is fed by Yokun Brook, and the foot of Yokun Ridge is in the background. It was a lucky find, visually, given all of the textural variety in the scene.

We were walking the Cascades Trail in Parc National de la Jacques-Cartier when we came on this stand of yellow birch in full color. The trail gives depth to the trees.Date: 5 October 2018Location: Parc National de la Jacques-Cartier, Québec, CanadaOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC 7
The hemlocks at Hemlock Springs have died from infestation by the hemlock woolly adelgid. The dead, gray trunks provide an interesting contrast with the colors of the live foliage.Date: 11 October 2009Location: Shenandoah National Park, Virginia, United StatesOriginal resolution: 6 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6

I got up early to shoot a number of dawn photos of this wetland, which is fed by Yokun Brook. I liked this one, on the first I shot, because of the salmon light on the cirrostratus clouds, which soon moved away. Mahanna Cobble and Osceda Mountain are in the background.Date: 12 October 2016Location: Lenox, Massachusetts, United StatesOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC 2015
This little stream flows into the Jacques-Cartier River in Parc National de la Jacques-Cartier. The overcast skies helped bring out the color of the trees and moss.Date: 5 October 2018Location: Parc National de la Jacques-Cartier, Québec, CanadaOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC 7
Étang Fer-de-Lance (Spearhead Pond) is a small pond in Parc National du Mont-Orford. I think the still water of the pond and texture of the grass and cattails provide a good foreground to the trees.Date: 8 October 2018Location: Parc National du Mont-Orford, Québec, CanadaOriginal resolution: 36 MPProcessing: Processed from RAW using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6
We were a little early for fall foliage in Door County, but Peninsula State Park had pockets of color.
